Our Mission
and Values
To gather and perfect the saints
Our Mission
Our purpose for coming to Burlington is simple, and so we wanted our mission statement to be simple as well. At Ebenezer Presbyterian, our mission is to draw people into the Christian faith and equip them to grow and mature in their walk with Christ.
CONFESSIONAL
We Stand on Truth
Our Values
As a covenant community, we stand on the Bible as our highest authority. We believe God speaks clearly through His Word. Our worship centers on thoughtful, passage-by-passage teaching of Scripture. We embrace historic Christian beliefs passed down through the
Reformation, focusing on God’s grace and glory. While our roots run deep, we express these timeless truths in ways that speak to today’s world.
Nehemiah 8:8, Romans 10:14-15,
2 Timothy 4:2 & 3:16 -17, Hebrews 4:12
PRAYER
We Depend on God
As a covenant community, we depend on prayer as our lifeline to God. We pray both privately and together before planning any ministry. Through prayer, we commune with God, seek His direction, and give Him glory. We believe nothing of lasting value happens without prayer, so we begin every effort by seeking God’s face.
Psalm 127: 1, 2 Chronicles 7:14,
Acts 13:2-3, Philippians 4:6-7,
James 5:16
EVANGELISM
We Share the Good News
As a covenant community, we share Christ in our everyday lives. We build relationships with people where we live, work, and play. Through our words, we make the Gospel clear, compelling, and persuasive. We invite others to experience God’s transforming grace through faith in Jesus.
Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, Romans 1:16, Colossians 4:5-6, 1 Peter 3:15
DISCIPLESHIP
We Grow Together
As a covenant community, we grow by investing deeply in one another’s lives. As such, we see discipleship as laboring in the lives of a few with the intention of imparting one’s life, God’s Word and the gospel in such a way as to see them become mature and equipped followers of Christ, committed to doing the same in the lives of others.
Proverbs 27:17, Matthew 18:19-20,
HOSPITALITY
We Open Our Lives
As a covenant community, we practice radical, ordinary hospitality by opening our homes, tables, and lives to others. We believe the home is a powerful place where the Gospel is both seen and heard. We welcome strangers as neighbors and neighbors as family. We open our doors so that all can hear the call of Christ through genuine relationships and honest conversations.
Acts 2:46-67, Romans 12:13 & 15:7, Hebrews 13:2, 1 Peter 4:9
Church Planting
We Multiply Mission
As a covenant community, we multiply God’s kingdom through starting new churches that share our commitment to Scripture, Reformed theology, and missional outreach. We generously invest our resources, leadership, and people to establish congregations that will continue this legacy of faithful ministry.
Isaiah 54:23 Matthew 16:18, Acts 13:13, Acts 14:21-23, Romans 15:20-21
Meet Church Planter - Chris Jessup
Chris Jessup became a believer while attending Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. His newfound love for Christ and desire for deeper understanding led him to pursue theological studies at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in Charlotte.
During seminary, Chris served for five years with Youth for Christ of Greater Greensboro before going on staff with Friendly Hills Church as the Director of Family Ministries and Outreach.
After graduating from RTS Charlotte in 2024, Chris was ordained by the Piedmont Triad Presbytery and commissioned as a church planter in Burlington, NC. In July 2024, he and his wife, along with their four children, moved to Burlington with a commitment to establishing a gospel-centered community where believers can grow in their knowledge and love of Christ.
Chris is dedicated to gospel proclamation, discipleship, church planting, and the ministry of the preached Word. He and his family eagerly anticipate how God will work in Burlington as they share the gospel and cultivate a thriving community of faith.
